Rainer Wulf, 2023

The 6-7 Wulf was an All-CIF player at Bishop Amat HS when he averaged 25 point per game, and won the Pat Haden Scholar-Athlete award. He then was a junior college standout at Citrus College, and then played college basketball at UC Irvine in the early 1980s, once scoring 21 points in a game, and played in the 1982 NIT Tournament.

He then went into coaching as an assistant at UC Irvine and University HS in Irvine, after playing pro one-year in Australia. He was the second Head Basketball Coach in Trabuco Hills HS history, and then Athletic Director. His coaching career was highlighted by one State championship game appearance, winning two Southern Section championships, one runner-up, and multiple Pacific Coast League titles. He was inducted in 2011 into the Southern California Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame. He eventually moved full-time into athletic administration around receiving his Master’s degree at Azusa Pacific. He started as Assistant Commissioner of the CIF Southern Section in 2008, and has been an adjunct professor at Concordia University in Irvine since 2009. He was given the CIF Ray Plutko Lifetime Achievement Award for 2022-23 before his retirement in June, 2023..
